Escape of the week: Birdsong

Retreat to a colourful garden filled with the lyrical call of native birds in this perfectly located holiday house in Killcare Heights. A sanctuary that lives up to its name, to stay at Birdsong is like escaping to the pages of a novel with its charming red door, woodland setting, hedged pool, bay windows and a well-stocked book shelf.

Designed to be a cocooning space for a couple hiding away, as much as a place for families or groups of friends to enjoy a weekend away, there is plenty of space here to entertain or simply cosy up in the reading nook while sipping on a chilled glass of pinot. The main living areas open out almost completely though bifold doors into the garden adjoining the pool area and there is a lovely deck to sit on while you listen to the birds.

The property is close to some local hot spots like Killcare Beach, the Hardy’s Bay waterfront, The Fat Goose and the Lucky Bee. With cafes, bush trails, boutique stores and water sports on your doorstep, this is what holidays are all about. Hike through the Bouddi National Park to arrive at stunning elevated views of the Pacific Ocean. Enjoy a bacon and egg roll down at the Killcare Kiosk or splash out on a fancy high-end lunch at Bells in the Wild Flower Bar & Dining restaurant.

And after a busy day exploring, arrive back to Birdsong with its relaxed, comfortable vibe and elegant spaces. There is a home theatre with Apple TV, Netflix, Stan, high-speed wifi and many games. Upstairs features an extensive upstairs studio with king bed, home theatre area and deck overlooking the pool area. Whether you are burnt out from corporate life or simply looking for a place to connect with friends and family, an escape to Birdsong could be just the antidote.
